Camilla & Tom’s Candle-Lit Wedding – December 2019
I met Camilla and Tom for the first time at the beautiful little church at Higher Ashton near Exeter, whilst Hurricane Lorenzo roared past the UK, bringing with it high winds and rain for their engagement shoot! Living in London, we had no choice but to go ahead, joking that ‘well it can’t get any worse really in December!’
And how right we were! Saturday 14th December 2019 was bathed in gorgeous, soft winter sunshine – perfect for a candle lit church service followed by a fabulous reception at one of our favourite venues, The Great Barn at Ashton.
Camilla made her gorgeous Richard Designs gown her own with alterations by the lovely team at Amica Bridal in Plymouth, and the boys donned fun monogrammed striped socks with their morning suits. The two ADORABLE pageboys wore the cutest little handmade dark green shorts-and-braces combo’s, handmade by a very talented lady who lives locally to Camilla’s sister. With a little help from Kristina (Andrew Hill Hair Salon), Sophy (Beauty Booth xoxo) and a gorgeous bouquet created by Viridis, Camilla was ready to take the short walk up to the church to her awaiting groom (with the assistance of some old white Primark pumps to and for to save her gorgeous Rainbow Club wedding heels!)
The church looked so romantic in the flickering candlelight and any nerves were immediately dispersed when the pageboys made their entrance! Leading the way for the gorgeous bride of course! A twilight sparkler send-off from the church and a little bottle of home-crafted sloe gin for the short walk back to the barn resulted in a wonderful chain of wedding quests meandering down the hill, lead by our newlyweds!
Some sundowner couple shots were stolen away in the walled garden whilst guests were doffing coats, listening to the sublime violin vibes by Hollie Chapman and settling into the beautifully decorated barn for informal speeches. Dinner by the fab Dartmoor Kitchen followed and then there was most animated version of ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ I think I’ve ever seen! (Think each table has their verse and have to leap up and sing it louder than the last!) Carnage haha!
A packed dance floor was a lot of fun and allowed us plenty of time for the party shots Camilla and Tom were super keen for. We also loved the addition of a couple of wigs which appeared… #endlessfun
